This is reserved for patients with hyperviscosity syndromes. If the test is required you MUST include this fact in the clinical details box, otherwise an ESR will be performed as the default.

Specimens that appear contaminated or grossly haemolysed will not be tested.  

Samples from patients with myeloma that have been refrigerated may show inaccuracy due to the precipitation of cryoglobulins.

1.50 - 1.72 mPa

Clinical Decision Making Values

≤1.50 mPa LPV - PV indicates a subnormal level of plasma protein fraction.
>1.50 - ≤1.72 mPa NPV - PV result normal.
>1.72 - ≤2.00 mPa IDPV - PV result suggests Inflammatory Disease.
>2.00 mPa HPV - PV result suggests Monoclonal Gammopathy.
