Hepatitis B core IgM antibody

General Information

The Abbott Alinity Anti-HBc IgM assay is a Chemiluminescent
Microparticle Immunoassay (CMIA) for the qualitative detection of IgM
antibody to hepatitis B core antigen (anti-HBc IgM) in human serum
and plasma and is indicated for use as an aid in the diagnosis of acute
or recent hepatitis B viral infection.

Patient Preparation

For taking blood samples we recommend that users follow either their local protocols or “The Royal Marsden Manual of Clinical Nursing Procedures”.

Red top blood (serum) samples

  • Sufficient blood for the test should be drawn into red topped (no additive) vacuum tubes.
