General Information

The Abbott Alinity Anti-HBc II assay is a chemiluminescent microparticle
immunoassay (CMIA) for the qualitative detection of antibody to hepatitis B
core antigen (anti-HBc) in human serum and plasma. The Abbott Alinity
Anti-HBc II assay is intended to be used as a screen for blood and plasma
to prevent transmission of hepatitis B virus (HBV) to recipients of blood and
blood components and as an aid in the diagnosis of HBV infection.

Patient Preparation

For taking blood samples we recommend that users follow either their local protocols or “The Royal Marsden Manual of Clinical Nursing Procedures”.

Red top blood (serum) samples

  • Sufficient blood for the test should be drawn into red topped (no additive) vacuum tubes.
