Sample Stability

EDTA bloods need centrifuging within 4 hours of
collection and plasma is then sent away.

HIV Drug Monitoring (TDM)

General Information

This test is referred to Cambridge Clinical Laboratory. The test is used to monitor drug levels in the blood before, during or after drug treatment. The test covers all current anti-HIV drugs and interpretation is available for most trough cases. 

Samples must be received in the laboratory Monday-Thursday 08:00 – 16:00.

It is essential to call the lab (0121 424 3111 Option 1 to inform them when a sample is being sent.

Sample must be sent in a blue Microbiology bag labelled “Urgent FAO Serology dept)” with both a Cambridge Clinical lab form and a Micro form.
