Change to HbA1C reporting in the presence of a Haemoglobin variant.

Please be advised that the Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull laboratories will no longer be reporting the HbA1C result in the presence of a Haemoglobin variant after Monday 27th March 2023. This will standardise reporting across the UHB network and takes into account the advice from the NICE guidelines (NG28 - 1.6.3).
Please request a fructosamine for monitoring glycamic control for patients who have an abnormal haemoglobin type.
