Sample Preparation

Can use serum or plasma if sample separated within 4 hours of taking the sample. If greater than this time period fluoride oxalate sample is required.

General Information

Glucose measurements are used to screen for, diagnose, and monitor diabetic states. Measurements are also undertaken to investigate hypoglycaemic states associated with metabolic and other conditions in adults and children.

Patient Preparation

Please state on form if fasting specimen.

Notes

No interference from Haemolysis or icterus.

Furosemide, thiazides, corticosteroid stress can increase glucose concentration.

3.9-5.8 mmol/L (Fasting)
