Sample Preparation

The sample must be collected into a clean universal bottle with 25mg ascorbic acid added and kept dark. Freeze sample.

Patient Preparation

Samples must be collected at a early clinic visit when phenylalanine levels are at their highest and this level must be recorded and written on the request card.

Notes

For the investigation of hyperphenylalaninaemia. NB. This assay will not differentiate between classical PKU and DHPR deficiency as the pterin levels can be similar.
