General Information
If investigation for Acanthamoeba is requested on contact lenses, cases or fluids the specimens should be kept at ambient temperature and sent to the reference laboratory as soon as possible.
The reference laboratory should be notified before dispatch
Uncultured scrape materials may also be sent to reference laboratory if the sample is taken into a small volume of sterile distilled water.
